HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy, former vicechairman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), has appealed to the senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh to refrain from ‘foot in the mouth syndrome’ where his comments were being denied by the party. Referring to Jairam Ramesh’s recent comments that senior leaders should act as ‘mentors and not as tormentors’ that were later clarified by the party as his personal views, Reddy advised him to refrain from making such statements.

Reddy said Jairam Ramesh had in August last year said the Congress was facing an ‘existential crisis’ making the senior party leaders to step in to clarify them as his personal views.

Shashidhar Reddy reiterated his appeal to the party high command to take up ‘Kamaraj Plan: Version 2’ and suggested all the members of Congress Working Committee (CWC) and All India Congress Committee (AICC) office bearers to submit their resignations.

This, Reddy viewed, would “give a free hand to reorganise and revamp the Congress party so that there would be new look party organisation at the national level, with new faces — a mix of young and old.”
