Authenticity is a must in journalism, says Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik
Naik said all help would be provided to fulfil the justified demands of the scribes that were raised in the two day convention.
"Journalism is a big power and it is necessary to think how this power can be used in public interest...Writings of a journalist have a direct impact on society and therefore, authenticity is a must in journalism," Naik said on the concluding day of a convention of Indian Federation of Working Journalist (IFWJ) here.
"As per the ideals of journalism, there should be enough stress on truth and objectivity," he said.
"Journalism started in the country as a mission... Journalists played an important role in the freedom struggle. Freedoms fighters like Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Mahatama Gandhi and others had crafted public opinion through their writings. Journalists also help in the implementation of government schemes," he said.
Naik said all help would be provided to fulfil the justified demands of the scribes that were raised in the two day convention.
Speaking on the occasion, state's PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav also assured that government would provide help to scribes, litterateurs and writers where ever required.
