'Attempts being made to create misapprehensions about Yoga Day'
BIJNOR: Attempts are being made to create misapprehension about International Yoga Day like that generated in the Muslim community against the Polio vaccination programme, a Muslim leader has claimed.

"Muslims should support the event, controversies notwithstanding. Yoga dispels diseases and keeps body healthy," Mufti Shamoon Qasmi, president of Sarv Dharm Ekta Samiti said.

"Attempts were made to create different types of misapprehensions about the Pulse Polio in the Muslim community," Qasmi claimed.

He urged Muslims to support the event and not create controversies, akin to the ones "created during introduction of Pulse Polio campaign".

The government has sought to end all controversy by making 'Surya Namaskar' voluntary in the event, he added.
