ATMs run dry across India: Here is what is happening across India

It was demonetisation redux for many people across India with reports of cash shortage at ATMs

Shortage was reported from states such as Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

Hyderabad, Bhopal, Surat, Varanasi and Delhi were among those that were badly impacted.


Here what is happening across India:

Madhya Pradesh:
*Residents in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal said many ATMs have had no cash for 15 days

* Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said there was a conspiracy behind Rs 2000 notes disappearing from the market.

* He said there was a deliberate attempt to create cash crunch by hoarding Rs. 2000 currency notes.


Uttar Pradesh:
In Lucknow, cash crunch was reported in Hazratganj, Gomti Nagar, Indira Nagar, Alambagh and Aliganj areas. Many ATMs across Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, have no cash including two right next to the RBI office in Gomti Nagar.

Chhattisgarh
Chief minister Raman Singh said his state “like many other states, has been affected by a cash crunch. The situation will be resolved as soon as possible.”

Jharkhand:
Most people from Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad reported they went ATM-hopping all day in vain.
