Atal Bihari Vajpayee's condition stable

The condition of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was admitted in AIIMS following respiratory infection and fever, was stable on Wednesday morning.

NEW DELHI: The condition of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was admitted in AIIMS following respiratory infection and fever, was stable on Wednesday morning.

"His condition is stable and he is conscious," Superintendent of AIIMS Dr D K Sharma said.

The 84-year-old BJP leader had come here for investigations and is being given appropriate treatment to deal with complains of fever and respiratory infection, Dr Sharma said.

Vajpayee is also suffering from hypertension and diabetes which needs to be taken care of, he added.

Vajpayee was admitted to the hospital last night and is under observation at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Dr Randeep Guleria, his personal physician, is looking after him, he said.
