At least three dead after Kandahar blast
At least three people were killed and 39 in a suspected bomb blast in Afghanistan's southern city of Kandahar.

KANDAHAR-AFGHANISTAN: At least three people were killed and 39 wounded on Wednesday in a suspected bomb blast in Afghanistan's southern city of Kandahar, doctors said.
The bodies of three people, including that of a woman, were in the city's main Mirwais hospital, doctor Mujeeb-ul-Rehman said.
"Including one woman, three people are dead, more than 30 people are wounded. Most of the wounded have superficial injuries," he said.
National health ministry spokesman Abdullah Fahim said three people were killed and 39 wounded were in the hospital.
"Among the wounded there are two children and six women. Most of the casualties are civilians," he said, without being able to give details.
Authorities could not be reached to immediately confirm the cause of the blast, which occurred in the centre of the city, or if there were more casualties at the scene or at other hospitals.
Kandahar city has been hit by a wave of bomb attacks most often claimed by the insurgent Taliban, who were in government between 1996 and 2001 and are fighting to retake power.
