Assembly elections: Political leaders file nomination in Nagaland and Meghalaya on Feb 7

In Nagaland, a total of 124 nomination papers were filed on Monday. Sitting Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, and state BJP president Temjen Imna Along were among the 124 candidates who filed their nominations.

Agartala: The filing of nominations for the assembly elections in Meghalaya and Nagaland ended on Tuesday. The last date for the withdrawal of candidates is February 10. Both states will go for single-phase polls on February 27.

In Nagaland, a total of 124 nomination papers were filed on Monday. Sitting Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, and state BJP president Temjen Imna Along were among the 124 candidates who filed their nominations.

In Meghalaya, 176 party heavyweights, independents, and first-timers filed their nominations on Monday.


Meghalaya TMC chief Charles Pyngrope, Opposition leader Mukul Sangma, TMC MLA Dikkanchi D Shira, United Democratic Party (UDP) chief Metbah Lyngdoh, UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh, People’s Democratic Party (PDF) leader Banteidor Lyngdoh, Meghalaya BJP chief Ernest Mawrie and BJP spokesperson Mariahom Kharkrang were among those who filed their nominations.
