Assembly elections 2011: Congress bags first seat in Puducherry

Ruling Congress won the Mahe Assembly constituency in the Union Territory of Puducherry with Health Minister E Valsraj retaining the seat.

PUDUCHERRY: Ruling Congress won the Mahe Assembly constituency in the Union Territory of Puducherry with Health Minister E Valsraj retaining the seat on Friday.

Valsraj defeated his nearest CPI-M rival T K Gangadharan by a margin of over 6,000 votes in Mahe, an enclave of the Union Territory in Kerala.
