Assembly election: BJP gears up for upcoming Assam polls

BJP in Assam has charted out elaborate organisational activity in the run up to assembly polls in April this year.

Talking to media persons on Friday in Guwahati, Assam BJP chief Ranjit Kumar Dass said, “We have fulfilled most of the assurances given to people of Assam prior to 2016 assembly polls. However in some aspects, we could not achieve hundred percent.”

BJP in Assam has charted out elaborate organisation activity. On January 3, 28,000 booths will hold booth ki bat (boot talks) where the number of votes which party got in the last election and target of votes for next elections, number of beneficiaries of different government schemes will be analysed.


From January 5 to 11, all booths will hold political meetings. Again from January 20 to February 20, there will be a Pristha Pramukh (page incharge of voter list) meeting will be held.

Dass after February 20 there will be no organisational activity. “We will be in election mode, we want the election to be held in due time.”

Stating that BJP has not lost a single election in the last five years, he said , “despite confusion and propaganda created by some that lakhs of people will come to Assam and settle owing to Citizenship Amendment Act , BJP managed to win Panchayat polls and Lok Sabha polls of 2019.”
