Assam told to be ready for vaccination between January and July: State Minister

he Assam government had announced that it has managed to flatten the Covid curve and issued adetailed standard operating procedure for the Durga puja celebration.

Guwahati: Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the Centre has asked Assam to be prepared for Covid-19 vaccination between January and July next year.

Priority will be given to frontline workers and people above 60 years. The Assam government had announced that it has managed to flatten the Covid curve and issued adetailed standard operating procedure for the Durga puja celebration where priests and organisers have to undergo Covid tests before and after the celebrations.

“In the last couple of days, there has been a series of meetings. The government of India has asked us to be prepared for the Covid-19 vaccine. I believe, by that time, 4-5 vaccines which are in different stages of trials will be ready,” Sarma said.
