Assam to launch health scheme Atal Amrit Abhiyan

Assam Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said under the Atal Amrit Abhiyan, a beneficiary can avail the benefit of free treatment up to Rs. 2 lakh every year.

GUWAHATI: BJP led government in Assam will initiate Atal Amrit Abhiyan, a health insurance scheme which will give coverage against five critical diseases.
Assam Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said under the Atal Amrit Abhiyan, a beneficiary can avail the benefit of free treatment up to Rs. 2 lakh every year in hospitals across the country in cases of five critical illnesses, which includes cancer, kidney, burns and any forms of heart surgery and neuro surgery.

The scheme will be rolled out from April 1 next year and it will be on individual basis. Atal Amrit Abhiyan is expected to cost the state exchequer Rs. 200 crore approximately every year.
