Assam to drop charges against MP Vanlalvena

Mizoram CM has asked his officials to withdraw the FIR filed against the Assam CM. And, Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked his police officers to withdraw the FIR filed against Mizoram Rajya Sabha MP K Vanlalvena. The Assam Police had issued summons to six Mizoram officials, including the deputy commissioners, SP and additional SP of Kolashib district.

Two Assam ministers will visit Mizoram on August 5. Mizoram CM Zoramthanga reciprocated Assam’s gesture and tweeted, “To build a conducive atmosphere for amicable solution to the #MizoramAssamBorder dispute & to reduce the plight of suffering citizens, I have directed@mizorampolice to withdraw FIR dt. 26.07.2021 filed at Vairengte, Kolasib District, Mizoram against all the accused persons.” Vanlalvena told media persons that things are better now. “Mizoram is ready to withdraw the FIR against Assam CM Sarma.”


Seven policemen were killed and 70 people injured along the Assam-Mizoram border after the clashes on July 26.

GOODS ROUTED THROUGH TRIPURA
With the continuing blockade and truckers unwilling to ply on National Highway 306 which supplies essential commodities to Mizoram, goods were routed to Mizoram through Tripura. However, some organisations have resorted to blockades in Patharkandi in Karimganj district.
