Assam: Senior IOCL official goes missing in Digboi
GUWAHATI: There is tension in Assam after a senior functionary of India Oil Corporation Limited ( IOCL) has gone missing from Digboi in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district on Sunday.

Kaushik Borah, executive director (designate) of IOCL (Assam oil division) has gone missing while his car was found in the Pengeri reserve forest. His family members have lodged an FIR.

Tinsukia Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Singh told ET, “The executive director has gone missing and we are making efforts to trace him. At this moment we cannot say anything on who is behind the incident.”

Sources in police said, “We are not ruling out kidnapping. In Tinsukia there have been several instances of kidnapping for ransom in the past.”

Oil- and tea-rich Tinsukia is still the stronghold of the anti-talk faction of ULFA. An IOCL spokesperson said, “Borah is the number two in the AOD hierarchy and is a sought-after officer.”
