Assam: Ruling BJP wins 12 of total 22 seats in Deori Autonomous Council polls

There were 75 candidates in fray — 18 from BJP, 4 from Asom Gana Parishad, 14 from Congress, 7 from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), 1 from Assam Jatiya Parishad and 29 others including independents.

The Council went to polls on Tuesday.
The ruling BJP in Assam has won the polls to the Deori Autonomous Council.

Out of 22 seats, BJP won 12 seats, Congress two and independents bagged eight seats.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, ”The resounding victory of @BJP4Assam & allies in Deori Autonomous Council election revalidates popular trust in our Govt guided by vision of Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodi ji. My deep gratitude to the voters of the Council area for giving us this huge mandate. I thank each party worker.”


The Council went to polls on Tuesday. Votes were cast across 93 polling stations spread across six districts and four sub-divisions.
