GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi on Saturday said that state will start the process for giving voters identity card after the completion final electoral roll.

Draft electoral roll was published on Friday. Assam does not have voters identity card as there were opposition to it from several quarters.

Assam government has published a white paper on foreigners issue. Gogoi who is facing heat from several quarters over the foreigners issue argued that facts and figures indicate that influx is on decline.

Soon after the ethnic riot of Bodoland almost everyday in different places of Assam anti illegal immigration rallies are organised.

Gogoi said, Illegal immigration is not the only issue there is important issues like education, health and unemployment which we need to deal. There is no threat to culture of Assamese.

The chief minister attacked opposition parties including Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and BJP for racking up the foreigners issue only before elections.
