Guwahati: With allegations of sloganeering “Pakistan Zindabad” at Silchar airport, Assam finance Himanta Biswa Sarma said that police will register a case and investigate the same.

A team of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) led by President and Lok Sabha MP, Badaruddin Ajmal had reached Silchar airport on Thursday, supporters waiting outside shouted Ajmal Zindabad. However there is an allegation they also raised the slogan “Pakistan Zindabad”. AIUDF countered and said supporters were shouting “Aziz Khan Zindabad”.

Himanta tweeted, “Look at the brazenness of these fundamentalists anti-national people who are shouting PAKISTAN ZINDABAD while they welcome MP.”

Later talking to media persons, he said, “We have asked police to register a case. They are talking in this lines, Miya museum, muslim school and blue lungi. As the election is nearing these voices are growing louder. Law would take its own course of actions.”

AIUDF General Secretary Aminul Islam said that at the airport the party workers raised slogans welcoming the party chief Badaruddin Ajmal and Aziz Khan, an MLA representing from South Karimganj assembly seat.

“Police must probe this incident. When the Congress, AIUDF and other parties are mulling a grand alliance before the upcoming assembly elections, certain quarters are trying to stop the process. See in last one months talks are concentrated on this lines,” Islam said.
