Assam police keeping a track on people staying outside the country

Assam police has already arrested several operatives of Bangladesh-based Jamat-ul-Mujaheedin.
Assam police has asked the Superintendent of Police of different districts to come up with a database of people working overseas.

The officer said, “The superintendent police in different districts is asked to keeping trace of people who have move abroad especially Middle East.”

Assam police has already arrested several operatives of Bangladesh-based Jamat-ul-Mujaheedin (JMB). JMB had started its activities in Assam. JMB’s key operative Sahanur Alam and one of the prime accused in Burdwan blast case was arrested by NIA and Assam police team in 2014.


Meanwhile, Assam police is yet to get confirmation of if Assam’s youth Qamer Uzzaman is the operative of Hizbul Mujahideen.

Uzzaman who hails from Hojai district and was engaged in small business in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar. His family members has not been able to contact him since July 2017.

A senior police officer who do not want to be quoted told ET, “We are ascertaining if Uzzaman was radicalized while he was staying in America for he stayed in America from 2008 to 2012. We are yet to get confirmation and Jammu and Kashmir police if the Uzzaman is Hizbul operative.”
