Assam police has arrested five persons in connection with a case of a Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains where a candidate allegedly using a proxy to appear in the test on his behalf during the examination.

Guwahati: Assam police has arrested five persons in connection with a case of a Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains where a candidate allegedly using a proxy to appear in the test on his behalf during the examination.

Assam police has arrested Dr Jyotirmoy Das, Neel Nakshatra Das, Hamendra Nath Sarma, Pranjal Kalita and Hirukamal Patha in connection with Azara PS case no 624/2020 u/s 120(b)/419/420/406 IPC r/w 66D IT Act. It is alleged that the candidate, who scored 99.8%, allegedly did not appear for the test held on September 5. A police officer said, “The matter came to light from the phone recording. We are probing the case.”
