Assam Police arrests 13 Rohingya refugees

A senior police officer said, “They were arrested while they crossed the border. They were first detained on December 22 which was coming from Agartala. Later they detained from the Churaibari inter-state border.”

GUWAHATI: Assam Police had arrested at least 13 Rohingya refugees from Karimganj districts of Assam, bordering Bangladesh.

A senior police officer said, “They were arrested while they crossed the border. They were first detained on December 22 which was coming from Agartala. Later they detained from the Churaibari inter-state border.”

The police officer added, “These people reveal that they were living in a camp in Bangladesh’s Cox Bazar. We have recovered Indian currency and Aadhaar card from them. They said that they were onway to to Hyderabad, Delhi and Jammu in search of work.”
