Assam Police arrest duo for offering to kill minister Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Director Ge​​neral of Police (DGP) Mukesh Sahay said that the police is questioning the duo to ascertain the motive behind such move.

“We are taking the matter seriously and all angles are being probed to unearth the truth," Assam's DGP, Mukesh Sahay, said.
Assam police has arrested two persons who are allegedly involved in sending an SMS offering to kill minister Himanta Biswa Sarma using bomb.

Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Sahay said that the police is questioning the duo to ascertain the motive behind such move.

Sarma is minister for health, tourism and education.


"We have arrested them on interception of SMS which states that they are ready to bomb the education minister during any of the forthcoming public meetings at Jalukbari area and demanded Rs 5 crore for the job," Sahay said.

The duo has sent text messages to other politicians also, he added.

He said that police has to ascertain if there is definite plan or it is just a mischief being played by disgruntled duo.

Sahay added that circulating such an SMS is a crime under the IT Act. “We are taking the matter seriously and all angles are being probed to unearth the truth."
