Opposition parties in Assam accuse each other of cross voting in presidential polls. All India United Democratic Front alleged around 20 Congress MLAS cross voted in favour of NDA presidential nominee Droupadi Murmu, Congress snubbed back.

Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly and senior Congress leader, Debabrata Saikia said, “I am confident about the Congress MLAs, the CPM MLA and independent MLA Akhil Gogoi that all these votes have gone in favour of opposition candidate but I cannot comment about AIUDF MLAs and their votes since we say that their party supremo is saying something and another MLA were saying two different things, So it is difficult to say about AIUDF.”

AIUDF Supremo and Lok sabha MP from Assam Maulana Badaruddin Ajmal on Sunday said that the party's 15 MLAs, of which 2 are absent since they have gone for Haj will vote for opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha.”

AIUDF MLA from Sonia constituency Karimuddin Barbhuiya alleged, “The mood that we saw inside the assembly suggests that at least 20 Congress MLAs might actually cross vote and if state wise results are tallied our claim might actually come true.
