Assam govt is planning to launch Assam Agricultural Commercialisation and Rural Transformation project in association with the World Bank which is expected to bring expertise to Assam to upscale economic prosperity of the farmers.

GUWAHATI: Assam Government is planning to launch Assam Agricultural Commercialisation and Rural Transformation project in association with the World Bank which is expected to bring expertise to Assam to upscale economic prosperity of the farmers.

Disclosing this at a meeting with a World Bank Team, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that his government is mulling to execute the project to bring knowledge, technology and expertise in the rural space to bolster the rural development in Assam.

The project is meant for the skill development of the farmers, upgrade the agricultural production and market-led extension service to stimulate rural transformation.

The project has different components, agriculture, handloom, sericulture and textile and in the beginning the project will be launched in modular manner and subsequently it will be upscaled in size and magnitude.

He also asked the World Bank Team to prepare a roadmap for the project and his government would extend all possible support for the implementation of the same.
