Assam government has prescribed vegetarian menu, local tribal style menu, tea in earthen cups, no gifting of items and no vote of thanks other than the anchor in the chief minister’s programme in different districts .

The chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed these prescriptions in case of his meeting/ programme organized in the different districts.

The prescriptions stipulate, “If the organizer intends to light a lamp (Diya/Chaki), it may be lightened before the starting of the function which may continue to lit throughout the meeting, Felicitation of CM with Gamocha "(scarf) / flower bouquet must be avoided strictly and no gift item to be offered to the CM”.


No vote of thanks need to be extended other than by the anchor, whenever CM stays for the night, the next morning programme should start with a plantation of a commercial tree, tea must be served in earthen cups (Kulhads) and water should be kept in glass bottle / jugs instead of single use plastic bottle. Lunch and dinner menu should always be simple vegetarian with an Assamese Local tribal style menu.
