GUWAHATI: With two ministers getting elected to Lok Sabha, BJP led government in Assam will soon initiate a cabinet expansion.

While Labour minister Pallab Lochan Das got elected from Tezpur, power minister Topon Kumar Gogoi was elected from Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency.

Senior BJP leaders who do not wish to be named told ET, “Assam BJP president, Ranjit Kumar Dass is likely to be inducted in the state cabinet. The party is looking for suitable replacement for Dass as the party president.”

Dass is a MLA from Sarbhog assembly constituency in Assam’s Barpeta district. After BJP led government assumed power in Assam in 2016, Dass was elected as speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly. Later that year, he was entrusted with responsibility of state party president.
