Assam government terminates Wadia Techno-Engineering Services' contract

GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led government in the state has terminated the contract of Wadia Techno-Engineering Services Limited on the grounds of non-performance.

The company has also been blacklisted by the Public Works Department (PWD)following state government's directive for its alleged forgery in a bridge construction project.

The state government had in January awarded contract to Wadia Techno-Engineering Services Limited and South Korea- based Yooshin Engineering Corporation to carry out a survey for building a bridge over the Brahmaputra to connect Majuli-- the world’s largest river island--- with Jorhat and North Lakhimpur districts.


The government on Saturday said that the decision to the effect was taken as Wadia Techno-Engineering Services failed to make any headway in the project and following charges of forgery levelled by Yooshin Engineering that accused the firm of forging its signature to show participation in the project.

Meanwhile, a case against the firm has also been filed at the Chandmari Police Station.

The PWD has also floated fresh tenders for the project.
