Assam elections 2011: CM offers prayer to goddess Kamakhya
Hours before counting of votes began in Assam, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi visited the Kamakhya temple here praying for Congress party's victory.
Gogoi, accompanied by some of his cabinet colleagues, visited the Shakti cult shrine atop the Neelachal Hills and offered prayers to goddess Kamakhya.
Amidst tight security, the chief minister was present in the temple premises for nearly half-an-hour before leaving for his Titabor constituency from where he is contesting the poll.
Approached by reporters while coming out of the temple, a smiling Gogoi said he had come to the temple to seek the blessings of the goddess for the victory of the Congress party.
"We are sure about coming back to power for the third consecutive term," a confident Gogoi said
