Guwahati: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) will continue with a statewide mass outreach campaign, ‘Raijor Podulit Raijor Congress’, (People's Congress at the People's Doorstep) stepping up grassroots engagement ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

The opposition Congress party in Assam on December 6 launched an outreach to grassroots communities in the state ahead of the 2026 assembly election.

APCC will roll out the third phase of its statewide mass outreach campaign, ‘Raijor Podulit Raijor Congress’, from January 3.

Assam Congress stated the campaign seeks to engage people at the village and block levels to capture aspirations for a New Assam and document grievances related to employment, education, healthcare, agriculture, price rise and governance. Inputs gathered during the yatra will feed into the party’s people-driven manifesto roadmap, an exercise overseen by Manifesto Committee Chairperson MP Pradyut Bordoloi.

As part of the third phase, five teams will fan out from Guwahati, each covering a designated zone of the state.

Group A, led by APCC president Gaurav Gogoi, will start from Tinsukia and cover Charaideo, Sivasagar, Jorhat and Golaghat, spending one day in each district. The team includes Roselina Tirkey, Arun Dutta Mazumdar, Gangajyoti Tayegam, Mausam Baruah and Abinash Gogoi, among others.

Group C, comprising Debabrata Saikia, Jakir Hussain Sikdar, Abdul Khaleque, Bitopan Saikia and Nirmal Langthasa and other members will travel through South Salmara, Goalpara and Kamrup.

Congress MP Rakibul Hussain will lead Group D, along with Jayanta Kalita, Soumya Kanti Purkayastha, Runumoni Bora and other leaders. It will cover Dhubri, Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon districts.

Group E, led by Ripun Bora, Nurul Huda, Mira Borthakur, Atuwa Munda and other leaders, will tour Morigaon, Nagaon and Hojai districts.

All five teams will reconvene in Guwahati on January 10 for the culmination programme, featuring centralised consultations led by chairpersons and senior leaders.

The event will bring together representatives from social organisations, trade unions, professional bodies, civil society groups, sectoral associations and issue-based collectives.

APCC President Gaurav Gogoi said, “The culmination of the Raijor Podulit Raijor Congress marks a key consultative milestone rather than a conclusion. By bringing together grassroots voices and organised stakeholders, including workers, professionals, civil society and social organisations, we are working towards a manifesto that captures individual concerns, community realities and long-term policy priorities. This process will shape a genuinely people-driven roadmap for Assam’s future.”

The Raijor Podulit Raijor Congress campaign was kickstarted from Dibrugarh by the APCC central team led by Gaurav Gogoi and Pradyut Bordoloi. During the second phase launched on December 20, the yatra covered over 15 districts across Upper Assam, Barak Valley and the hill districts, engaging students, farmers, workers, women’s groups, traders and professionals.

Notably, around 600 aspiration boxes have been placed at consultation venues and public spaces across the state, each carrying a QR code linked to the Natun Axom digital platform, enabling citizens to submit aspirations both offline and online.
