A tweet of Congress MP from Assam Abdul Khalaque has created controversy. Khalaque praised the Mughals in a tweet and stated he is proud of Mughals, because they shaped Hindustan.

In a tweet he said, “Of course, I am proud of Mughals, because they shaped Hindustan.”

He told media persons, “Firstly we have to see under what circumstances i said that. Assam CM always says negative on Mughals so that CM accepted the contribution of Mughals. I am proud of Mughals because todays Hindustan has been shaped by Mughals. Before Mughals Pritviraj Chauhan was the ruler of Rajputana. Since the advent of Mughals this country was called Hindustan. Under Prithvuraj rule, there was no Bihar and Bengal".

He added, “There was no conflict between Assam and Mughals. Assam was then independent country and that was the country. Today Assam is part of the country so circumstances have same. Lachit Borphukon general was Ismail Siddque and this was not a Hindu vs Muslim. Wrong narrative has been created by BJP and RSS.”
