GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi is trying to rope in political strategist Prashant Kishor for the 2016 assembly polls in his state. Kishor had helped Narendra Modi-led BJP win the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, and had recently crafted Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s victory over BJP in the assembly elections.

“Yes I have talked to Prashant Kishor and sought his services. However, it now depends on him if he wants to come or not,” said Gogoi.

The chief minister also said that he will sit in demonstration in Parliament, protesting against the Centre’s alleged apathy towards Assam.

He said he was ready to debate with any Union minister in Doordarshan about the money released to Assam in the past one year. Gogoi alleged that the Centre is yet to release Rs 20,000 crore due to Assam.

“This includes money from oil royalty and other schemes.” Demanding the appointment of a permanent Governor in Assam, Gogoi sought the removal acting Governor PB Acharya for his reported remark that Hindustan is for Hindus.

The governor, however, denied making such a comment.
