Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal kick-started roadshow in Kolkata for the first Global Investors’ Summit to be held in February next year in Guwahati.

The summit will be inaugurated by Prime minister Narendra Modi. Business delegates from as many as 60 countries across the world participated in the roadshow.

The discussion specifically focussed on sectoral developments with special emphasis on tea, food processing, handloom and textile, tourism and hospitality, health, agriculture and allied industries, bamboo, jute, plastic industries etc.

Sonowal said that the law and order situation of the State has improved considerably which is conducive for investment. He also said that he had requested the Union Civil Aviation Ministry to extend the ambit of the UDAN scheme so that flight connectivity between Assam with other ASEAN countries increases.

He also said that to leverage the true potential of Assam, the State Government is organising Global Investors’ Summit “Advantage Assam”.
