Chief Minister Sarma informed that owing to the vice President election on September 9, Prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Assam on September 8 is postponed.
Modi’s visit to Assam, in connection with the year-long birth centenary celebrations of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, has been rescheduled to 13-14 September. The celebration in Assam would nevertheless be held on 8 September, while the Prime Minister would commemorate the occasion on 13 September.
Sarma on Wednesday said, “Assam election is very important and the Union home minister takes keen interest in Assam. On 28 August when the BJP core committee meeting will be held, we will get a lot of Marg darshan (pathways) from the home minister. For us politically also his visit is important.”
Shah will arrive on Thursday and on Friday will attend the Panchayat Convention in Guwahati. He will inaugurate the newly constructed building of Raj Bhavan. He will also inaugurate the year-long birth centenary celebrations of Assam's first non-Congress Chief Minister Golap Borbora.
Sarma said that the Prime minister will reach on September 13 and take part in year-long birth centenary celebrations of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. “On September 14 he will go to Mangaldoi and from there to Numaligarh.”
Sarma had earlier stated the PM will arrive first at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Golaghat district and dedicate to the nation the bio-ethanol plant, set up at a cost of Rs 4,200 crore.
The PM will inaugurate the Guwahati-Ring Road, a bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Kuruwa and Narengi in Guwahati and also lay the foundation stone of the Mangaldoi Medical College Hospital. The projects are worth more than Rs 8000 crores.
Sarma stated in X, “A timeless recognition for Dr Bhupen Hazarika Glad to share the the Ministry of Finance has issued the official gazette notification for issuance of a Rs 100 commemorative coin on the special occasion of the birth centenary of the Bharat Ratna. Gratitude to Adarniya Shri @narendramodiji for always giving Sudhakantha the due recognition he deserves and making his centenary celebrations even special.”
