Sarma and Union Minister Sonowal discussed at length on realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a Viksit Assam and Viksit India.
Officials’ privy to the meeting disclosed that discussions were held on developing waterways sector in Assam, including India's first international Multi Modal Logistics Park at Jogighopa and ports to take Assam and the Northeast Region to greater heights in the waterways sector.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Chief Minister Dr. Sarma posted, "It is always a pleasure to meet Shri @sarbanandsonwal dangoriya and discuss our vision for a #ViksitAssam."
Later, the Chief Minister also met Union Minister for Power, Manohar Lal Khattar at Parliament House.
The Chief Minister apprised the Union Minister about the slew of initiatives taken by the state government to strengthen the power sector, including transmission and distribution and also to reduce the losses, new power projects.
Union Minister Khattar appreciated the initiatives taken by the state government to further strengthen the power sector to propel growth and development in Assam and assured his Ministry's support and cooperation to the government's endeavour on the power front.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, KK Dwivedi and other senior officials from the State and Central Governments were present.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said, "Held an excellent meeting with Hon'ble Union Minister Shri @mlkhattar ji in New Delhi.
We discussed ways to further strengthen Assam's power sector to drive our growth and the initiatives taken by the State in this direction."
