Assam chosen for Covid vaccine dry-run

In the last 15 days around 102 people have come to Assam from the United Kingdom.
GUWAHATI: As a prelude to Covid-19 vaccine rollout, the Centre has planned to conduct a dry run in select places, including Assam, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said today.

Sarma said, “Dry run will be conducted without a vaccine. We are happy for the fact that Assam is among the four states which also include Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Punjab for dry run.”

Sarma said in the last 15 days around 102 people have come to Assam from the United Kingdom. “Out of this 72 were from Kamrup Metro, only one was found positive. We have sent for testing in NIV Pune to ascertain the strain. We are checking if it's the same strain which hit Europe recently.”
