Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi announces funding for Film Corporation

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today announced a financial package of Rs two crore for the Assam State Film ( Finance & Development) Corporation and said another Rs two crore would be provided for making films for children in the state.

Gogoi made this announcement during the inaugural ceremony of the State Children's Film Festival here today.

The event is being organised by the Assam State Film (Finance & Development) Corporation Ltd in collaboration with the Children Film Society of India.

During his speech, Gogoi said said the state government will take up a special project for shooting of children's film with a view to facilitate further development of mental faculties of children.

"Films for children play a major role in development of kids' cognitive abilities and help them to learn new things," he said.

He called upon all sections of society must strive unitedly to build a secure future for children of India.

"Films are not mere entertainment but also a source of imbibing culture, learning and knowledge and children must also make the most of such things," he said.

The event was also attended by Assam State Film (Finance & Development) Corporation Ltd chairperson Babita Sarma, Children Film Society of India executive committee member Hemen Das and Assamesse films actors Kapil Bora and Jerifa Waheed.
