According to an official notification issued from Raj Bhavan, the newly inducted ministers — Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro and Ajanta Neog — were assigned portfolios on the advice of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Rameswar Teli has been given the departments of Transformation and Development, Labour Welfare, and Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare.
Atul Bora has been given charge of Panchayat and Rural Development, Implementation of the Assam Accord, Border Protection and Development, and Excise departments. Bora earlier served as agriculture minister.
Charan Boro has been assigned the Transport and Welfare of Bodoland departments, while Ajanta Neog has been entrusted with the Women and Child Development and Tourism departments.
Neog has earlier served as finance minister on two occasions. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that the Assam cabinet expansion would take place in the first week of June after the completion of the Assembly session. Sarma is likely to visit New Delhi on May 26.
