Guwahati: Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who will present last full budget of BJP led government in Assam on March 4 said that 2020-21 state budget will be consolidation of gains already made.

Assuring that the budget will have several new schemes; he said “On Tuesday BJP MLAs have made suggestion pertaining to the budget. Finance department has taken note of their suggestions.”

Stating that it will be a people centric budget, Sarma said, “The budget will ensure consolidation of gains already made.”


When asked if the budget will be populist or election oriented, Sarma said, “ If being election centric results in making of couple of roads, what is harm in it for after all it is for the benefit of the people.”

Recently in public rally Sarma announced BJP led government will offer free rice and subsided pulses and sugar.

Sarma had said, “The one Re rice will be made available for free. We will subsidize pulses and sugar by at least 50 percent and in the next budget session this scheme will be announced.”
