GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the state budget 2016-17 is a ‘people’s budget’ touching all segments of the society.

Sonowal said the budget presented on the floor of the Assam Legislative Assembly has been prepared in consultations with people, trade unions, economists and members of the Opposition. “It’s a participatory Budget wherein views and opinions of all sections of people have been incorporated to make it all encompassing,” he said.

Sonowal said the budget goes with the motto ‘Saaka Saath Saabka Vikas’ as it takes along with it all sections of people in the process of building up a New Assam and thereby paving the way for a very positive change to our State. “I am sanguine that the budget will be able to bring about desired level of development by ushering changes in different sectors in the days ahead,” he added.
