Assam assembly polls: Congress releases list of 40 candidates

Congress in Assam has declared list of 40 candidates.

Bitupon Saikia who joined Congress after he was denied ticket by BJP is given ticket from Golaghat, Ankita Dutta will contest from Amguri. She is the daughter of former Assam minister Anjan Dutta.

Manoj Dhanwar will contest from Lahowal. Manoj is the son former minister Rameswar Dhanwar.


Leader of opposition, Debabrata Saikia is seeking reelection from Amguri and Durga Bhumji is seeking re election from Doom Dooma.

Pranjal Ghatowar will contest from Moran. He is the son of former union minister Praban Singh Gatowar.

Congress has formed a grand alliance in Assam. The state is going for three-phase assembly polls.
