Zardari today condoled the death of former Indian PM I K Gujral, saying the region had lost a "great proponent" of peace.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari today condoled the death of former Indian Prime Minister I K Gujral, saying the region had lost a "great proponent" of peace.

In his condolence message, Zardari paid tribute to Gujral for his leadership qualities and lauded his role in improving ties between Pakistan and India.

"In his death, the region has lost one of great proponents of peace and a politician with qualities of head and heart," he said.

Zardari also expressed his sympathies to the bereaved family.
