Asaram's Ghaziabad ashram slapped with notice over dues

GHAZIABAD: A notice has been served on incarcerated self-styled godman Asaram Bapu's ashram here by Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam ( GNN) for non-payment of property tax, water bills and sewer tax.

Now the civic agency, which had served the notice last month, is mulling slapping another "demand bill" on the ashram tomorrow for the bill totalling Rs 5.86 lakh.

GNN officials have asked Asharam's management to pay the dues "immediately". The ashram is located in Nandgram area of the district.

"We had sent notice to Asharam's management last month, giving a one-month time for submission of its objection.

"But, there is still no response from the other side. If they now fail to file their response by tomorrow, we would slap demand bill this time," said RK Singh, municipal commissioner, GNN.
