As Prime Minister I stand for the oppressed: PM Narendra Modi
NEW DELHI: In an interview to Network 18, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed the need for unity, peace and cultural consensus.

He pointed out that the people who oppose his party’s aim to better the lives of ordinary citizens are the ones whose personal politics is harmed by the agenda of development.

He said the best way to remove poverty is to empower the poor with education and economic access. Otherwise, he said largesse would only make the poor remain poor and help the politics of poverty.

On the other hand, such empowerment of vocational training and provision of economic activity will induce the poor to rise above poverty.

The PM said he had asked all banks to promote one adivasi, one dalit and one low caste by every bank branch in the country. With 1.25 lakh branches we can immediately touch the lives of millions of people this way.

If we push agricultural means of income and boost this to provide access to the rural poor we can immediately better the lives of our citizens as most of us live in villages or we have relatives in villages, explained the prime minister.
