NEW DELHI: UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday inaugurated the headquarters of Noida Police Commissioner at the Traffic Park, Noida.

Noida’s police commissioner Alok Singh, who is 1995-batch IPS, will start functioning from the new premises in Sector 108 From Monday.

In January, UP cabinet had approved a proposal to set up police commissioner system in Lucknow and Gautam Buddh Nagar, also known as Noida. Apart from the posting of Singh, the administration has divided the city into three zones accommodating 22 police stations. Sources said five new police stations are likely to be set up in Guatam Buddh Nagar.


Speaking at the event, Adityanath underlined the need for taking forward the concept of “smart policing”. He also said his government is planning to set up forensic laboratory in every division of the state.

On the decision to introduce police commissioner system, CM Yogi said it was a long pending demand of the people. “We will try our best to improve policing in the city after the introduction of commissioner system,” Singh told ET on phone.
