Congress has already demanded that MJ Akbar either give “a convincing reply or quit as minister”.
The Congress on Sunday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “choosing to maintain silence” on the allegations of sexual misconduct against his minister of state for external affairs MJ Akbar.

“Why is PM Modi, who speaks on all kind of issues, keeping mum on this (Akbar’s) issue on which only he can take a decision,” Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma said.

“It is a question mark on the moral authority of this government, the dignity of the office of the PM and on Modi’s commitment to his slogan of beti bachao, beti padhao”.

“PM Modi’s silence is unacceptable. He must speak up on the issue,” Sharma said, pointing out that Congress has already demanded that Akbar either give “a convincing reply or quit as minister”.
