NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel over "arrest in false cases" of political opponents and declared that "Delhi and Gujarat" will from now on "fight together".

"Anandiben sends Dalits and Patidars to jail in false cases in Gujarat, Modiji does that with Delhi wallahs. Gujarat and Delhi will now fight together," said Kejriwal. The Delhi Chief Minister’s comments came on a day when AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan was arrested by the Delhi Police over charges of threatening a woman with physical harm. Khan was sent to one day custody by a local court. Recently, Hardik Patel had been released after being arrested on charges of sedition. Throughout Sunday, Kejriwal was relentless in his attacks on Modi over social media as well as at a Delhi government function in the evening.

"It is shameful that Modiji has diverted entire police from protecting women to arresting his political opponents," he said.

Later in the evening, at a launch event of a flyover, Kejriwal was angrier. "Someone told me that here (in Delhi), they are only making arrests, in Gujarat they encounter," Kejriwal said.
