New Delhi: Union minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday accused Arvind Kejriwal of running a “non-transparent” government and taking credit for pollution mitigation and prevention of dengue from the national capital. Javadekar — who is the BJP incharge for Delhi elections — released an RTI-based report by BJP-linked think tank Public Policy Research Centre which claimed that the fiscal deficit of the Delhi government has increased 80 times in the past two years.

The think tank, led by BJP vice president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, has filed multiple RTIs with 1,200 questions seeking information on various schemes of the Delhi government. "In over 900 RTIs we got no replies after which we had to go for appeals and other procedures. The man who is known for his campaign for RTI doesn't let it work in his government," Javadekar said.

Javadekar said it was the hard work put in by BJP-run bodies such as MCD and the Centre that "has been successful in reducing pollution in the city or combating dengue." “MCD officials went to every house and ensured that measures were put in place. Centre's initiatives put a restriction on vehicular traffic from outside in the city. We also shut down polluting plants. But Kejriwal is putting out ads giving credit to himself.”

The minister added that the Modi government's move to regularise 100 unauthorised colonies and relief to traders will help the party.
