NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered suspension of two New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) employees for "dereliction of duty" and failing to addressing sewage and cleanliness issues.

The Chief Minister had made a surprise visit to Pilanji village yesterday after receiving several complaints from local residents of the area about non-addressal of sewage and cleanliness issues, an official in the CMO said.

Following the inspection, Kejriwal ordered the suspension of a junior engineer (JE) and sanitary inspector for negligence, he added.

Last year, New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi had adopted Pilanji village in her constituency to develop it as a model village under a scheme envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
