NEW DELHI: In what could worsen the controversy over AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s incarceration, the party has decided that it will not budge from his stand on not paying the bail bond. While the party has decided that it will not protest anymore, it has announced a mass contact programme to explain the circumstances that led to Kejriwal’s arrest and why he accused BJP leader Nitin Gadkari of being corrupt.

These decisions were taken in consultation with the party chief who met his colleagues in Tihar Jail on Thursday morning. “We had a meeting with Arvind Kejriwal during which it was decided that the party won't protest anymore and would launch a door-todoor campaign and tell people how a honest man like Kejriwal is in jail,” senior AAP leader Ashutosh.

Kejriwal was arrested on Wednesday and sent to Tihar Jail till May 23 by a local court after he refused to furnish bail bond of Rs 10,000 in a criminal defamation complaint filed against him by BJP leader Nitin Gadkari.
