Arvind Kejriwal opposes FDI in defence, calls it sellout of country

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday claimed Monday’s FIR filed by the Anti-Corruption Branch against him was at the behest of PM Narendra Modi who wants to silence him for “standing like a mountain” against the latter’s “misdeeds” and for people’s rights.

Speaking at a press conference, Kejriwal also expressed his opposition to the opening up of foreign direct investment in defence and called it a “sellout of country” to the foreigners.

Recalling the CBI raid in Delhi Secretariat in early 2016, Kejriwal said the country’s premier investigations agency could not find anything incriminatory and called the FIR of a piece with the raid. “A question thus arises: why is Narendra Modiji getting CBI raids and fraudulent FIRs done against me? The reason for this is that Modiji has scared off others by such means. It is me alone standing like a mountain, raising voice and waging struggle against bad deeds of Modiji.

That is why, Narendra Modiji wants to scared and threaten me. But I want to say today: Respected Narendra Damodardas Modiji, do what you please, I am not going to bend, neither am I going to be scared, nor will I be broken,” claimed the Aam Aadmi Party Convener. The reference concerning defence FDI came up alongside a list of struggles which Kejriwal said he would lend a voice to. Among them were farmer suicides, killing and oppression of dalits, “protecting scam tained” BJP Chief Ministers, among other things.
