MUMBAI: Arvind Kejriwal was mobbed by both AAP members as well as the media as he landed at Mumbai's domestic airport on Wednesday morning.

The arrivals section of Terminal 1 A was packed with men and women wearing the characteristic white topi with the words "Main hoon aam aadmi."

Kejriwal took a rickshaw at the airport and headed to Andheri station. He was mobbed by cameras all the way to the station.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal will spend Wednesday afternoon campaigning here, with Jan Sabhas in many areas in Mumbai south and northeast parliamentary constituencies. Former banker Meera Sanyal will contest from Mumbai south, while social activist Medha Patkar will contest from northeast.

This will be the first time Kejriwal campaigns for AAP in Maharashtra and the party believes his visit will help the electorate connect with its success in Delhi. AAP recently launched its campaign in Maharashtra with a series of exposes on corruption in the electricity sector.

While Kejriwal won much admiration when he chose to commute to work on the Delhi Metro as chief minister, he intends to travel by auto-rickshaw and local trains here.

Areas where he will hold Jan Sabhas include August Kranti Maidan, Nagpada, Mankhurd, Ramabai Nagar and Annabhau Sathe Chowk.

He will head to Vidarbha after his one-day visit here. AAP leaders in Maharashtra feel Kejriwal's visit will add impetus to the party's Lok Sabha campaign in the state.

"His visit will provide an adrenaline rush to our campaign," said Anjali Damania, Maharashtra convenor, and the party's candidate for Nagpur.

Kejriwal is likely to strike a cord with Right To Information activists from Maharashtra, as Kejriwal is known for his work in bringing RTI to India. Maharashtra is among the states which has witnessed the highest number of attacks on RTI activists.
