Kejriwal met Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Chandigarh today and stressed that the solutions for the pollution problem needed to be found with a joint effort between the Centre and States.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said his government would work closely with governments of other North Indian states to ensure that the pollution situation in Delhi improves.

Kejriwal met Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Chandigarh today and stressed that the solutions for the pollution problem needed to be found with a joint effort between the Centre and States.

Kejriwal said talks are heading in a cordial atmosphere, and that all possible measures would be taken to ensure that the entire belt in the northern plains would not have to face such dangerous pollution situation again.

Khattar, too, said his government would work closely with the Delhi and Punjab governments to find a solution to the smog crisis.

This comes amidst a week of deplorable environmental conditions in the National Capital Region, as a thick layer of smog engulfed the whole city. The air quality reached dangerous levels of poor, and the Kejriwal government was accused of being a silent onlooker despite there being such a hazard in the city.

The burning of crops in Haryana and Punjab was blamed for being one of the chief contributors to the pollution in Delhi, and Kejriwal had earlier said that it was imperative to find an amicable solution after discussions with other state governments.
